Kaiser Diet Plan – How To Lose 10 Pounds In 3 Day?

Today I want to show a pretty entertaining diet plan that I found last night. Last night, as my girlfriend was digging around her kitchen cabinets searching for a baking recipe, she came across a seemingly very old suggestion for a diet. She gave it to me to check out and share with the rest of you. The first thing I noticed was that the paper was pretty torn up and it looks like it could have been written on a typewriter. The other thing that caught my eye was that it was recommended from Kaiser Permanente, a very large managed care organization. So this must be all true, right? This plan is titled: Lose 10 Pounds in 3 Days. I have always been told to steer clear from anything that seems like a quick and easy method to lose weight, it just doesn’t seem right. Since this got me interested, I checked out all of the food items that were included in this diet. Check out the entire thing below:

Day 1

  • Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 2 tbs. peanut butter, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna, 1 slice toast, a coffee/tea
  • Dinner: 3 ozs. meat, 1 cup green beans, 1 cup beets, 1 small apple, 1 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 2

  • Breakfast: 1/2 banana, 1 egg, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese, 5 saltine crackers
  • Dinner: 2 hot dogs, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 3

  • Breakfast: 1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1 oz. cheddar cheese, 5 saltine crackers, 1 small apple
  • Dinner: 1 cup tuna, 1 cup beets, 1 cup cauliflower, 1/2 cantaloupe, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Kaiser says that with this diet, you lose 10 pounds so quickly because this food pattern will cause a chemical breakdown in your system. They say it’s proven to work, so there shouldn’t be any substitutions from anything on the diet plan. They say you can do this plan four times in one month, but not consecutively. Either way, this plan, along with many others out there, just sound really fishy. It just doesn’t seem naturally healthy to lose up to 40 pounds in one month!I’m going to do a little more research on the topic of “chemical breakdowns” with food in the digestive system. I have never heard of this concept before, but maybe it really is a magical combination that can effectively allow us to lose weight in a quick and healthy manner. Leave any kind of feedback on your guys’ take on this Kaiser Diet, any is appreciated!

Here is a 10 day diet plan that has been known to work extremely well!

Steam the vegetables…as a matter of fact for your 3 oz of meat use Turkey hot dogs or Turkey Kilbasa sausage and steam them together…taste great and more filling so you won’t be as hungry on these smaller portions.

Hi therе everyone, it’s my first pay a quick visit at this web page, and post is actually fruitful designed for me, keep up posting such content.

  • Candie

I dont like beets can i eat any other vegtable??

  • K&L

ok I’m gonna start this diet again (2nd time after 4 years) The only thing about this diet is not only that you cant cheat!!! Is not recommended to use canned vegetables or fruits! The grapefruit it has to be the actual fruit not the juice that you buy in cans. Tuna it has to be water one obviously without the water and not cooked! When you cooked a lot of this things it will loose their properties and is not gonna work like described. Ohh dont forget to measure and weight the vegetables , the meat, etc… Good luck! I’m crazy to try this again (I do know it works!!! The only thing is that I dont like a lot of things! Like coliflower… :-S)

When I was on the track team in the early to mid 90’s, yes Kiaser’s did give this diet out to the athletes to shave a few pounds off to qualify in weight classes. The diet was designed for this purpose. To have athletes safely lose weight. Only to be used in the week you need to qualify. Kaiser stop recommending the diet due to other people using the diet the wrong way. So if you are not working out and only lost 3 pounds, now you know why that happened. It is not a diet plan for someone that needs or wants to loose a large amount of weight.
Please be very careful!!!! You just can’t go from eating cheeseburgers and smoking one day to beets and eggs for three days. First, start eating better. Real fruit, whole grians and lots of water. People with better eating habits will not feel hungry, tired or faint. If you choose to use this diet, plan ahead.

I have been knowing this diet since the 1970s. It works. It is hard to do and regardless of what anyone says DO NOT make the substitutions. The diet works on a chemical breakdown to achieve the results. If you substitute you will not get the identical results – you will get results because of low caloric intake but they will not be the optimum. If it says two saltines, eat only 2 saltines. My gosh, can’t anyone do this for only 3 days?! If you can’t you are exhibiting the same mind set that has given the weight problem in your life.
It is hard, but worth it. By-the-way, the original diet says 3 days on and 2 days off and so on until your ideal weight has been achieved. IT WORKS!

  • Pamela

TAB: No vegan version! It is based solely upon chemical breakdown that occurs with the foods as stated. Go vegan AFTER you reach your goal weight. What is wrong with you?

This is my 2nd day on the diet and I only lost 1 pound, when do you usually lose the weight after the 3rd day?

I have hypothyroidism and take 88 ml of Synthroid everyday. I am also on a prescribed pain control regime that consists of a low dose of narcotics daily. Do you think that the chemical breakdown of these foods allowed in this 3 day diet plan work with someone who is taking prescription medication? I am 42 and I am fairly active. I plan to walk 40 min. every day as well as start this particular diet plan?

  • Surzette

Do you have to have everything to lose the weight? Cause I don’t and I want to lose the weight.

  • Pamela

This diet works. It is from 1970s. Women may lose a little less than 10lbs but I have found I lose 7lbs. It is very difficult the first time, I was starving lol. But buck up! It is only 3 days! :>)

I will be trying this starting tomorrow. I plan to follow it to a T for 3 days. Then 4 days off, but eating healthily. Anyone else still doing this? I’ll post my results after the 3 days and then after the 4 days off!

It has been two years after the diet and I look great still I’m watching what I’m eating always. The question is when a person is diabetics is it ok to do this kind of diet.?

  • http://Kaiser3daydiet Carla Foster

I have used the Kaiser 3 day diet off and on over 20 years and YES it does work. I used it before vacations or after holidays. The most I lost was 11 pounds in 3 days. You have to follow it exactly. It works on a chemical breakdown.

  • Linda

I did this diet over 20 years ago and each time lost at least 10 pounds…..didn’t really like the foods…esp. hot dogs….but it is only 3 days of dieting….don’t substitute…it needs the particular foods for the chemical breakdown…glad it is posted…going to try it again at 64 years of age I have been packing on the pounds…slower life style…so here goes

  • Doeja

I am so curious about this claim so I am going to try the diet starting today. I’ll come back each day and share with you my results. I know diets are very different for everyone, depending on age, height, and how much you are overweight to begin with. So for that reason, I will share my personal info. I am 50, 5’10”, and weight this morning is 198.0. Let’s see if I can get to 188.0 in three days! :)

  • Elvira Estrada

Can you stir fry the hot dog with the broccoli and carrots

  • Rachel Black

You can cook it however you want just don’t add anything to it, it is not a chemical breakdown that this is based off of, it is caloric. You could probably add garlic and pepper and be okay, I would avoid salt because it will make you bloat and gain water weight. I have done this diet before it does work, I have substituted the grapefruit for a small orange, I don’t like grapefruit unless it is baked with some olive oil and brown sugar. So if you look at all the calories you are taking in with this diet it is VERY minimal and that is how it works. The foods themselves are just low in calories, the ice cream is added in to help give your body SOME fat.

  • Elvira Estrada

What if you not like cottage cheese

  • Rachel Black

Something similar in calorie content would probably be good, maybe a low or non fat plain yogurt. I am not fond of cottage cheese myself, but I found that a sprinkle (tiny bit) of salt, some pepper and some sriracha make it taste better. You could always just opt out and not eat it and have something else off the menu. like say the cheese that is offered on another day, or maybe a hard boiled egg. Again it is all about staying within the calorie count.

I am on day 3. With the exception of not having tea/coffee with lunch on the first day (forgot), I have followed this diet to the letter, however, as of this morning I am down ONLY 2.6 pounds (weighing in the same time of day each day, naked). Can a cup (? no measurement given) of tea really be the difference of 7 pounds? What really are my chances that I wake up tomorrow 7.4 pounds lighter???? Sticking with it through today. We’ll see.

  • Stacy

I love this diet, however, the one I used was just a tad different, I can not stand beets – can do all the rest. Since May 1st…..I have lost 34 lbs with 23 of those pounds in May. Menopause and chronic pain took its toll on me – still feel crappy on the inside but feel freaking fab on the outside!!! I did 3 weeks of 3 day diet, 4 off – took a week off (watching what I eat of course) and did it 2 more cycles. NO, did not lose 10lbs each time – once was 6, one week only 2 and another 6-7 but it adds up and who can’t do THREE days?? Have not been on it at all since mid June and still eat dry toast and HB egg for breakfast. Its all about choices. I swear by this diet and will do it again 2 more cycles in Aug just so I have some “wiggle” room….ha ha. The morning and afternoon are the toughest, hefty dinner really with desert. NO cheating – good luck!!

  • Nalleli Bonilla

I don’t like tuna. Is there something else I can substitute it with other then fish?

  • david

just a quick analysis would suggest that this is about 1000 cal per day. of course you can lose wt if you are on starvation rations. with few exceptions there would rarely be a reason to go below 1800 which means that it is 800 to 1500 cal per day . the choice of food are not very healthy and unless specifying a specific hot dog or ice cream it is unlikely that there is a chemical reaction that promotes wt loss as the composition of these foods varies widely and are unhealthy in and of themselves. mystery solved by Dr Dave (yes I am a Doctor)

Tell me why icream very night not to much of a icream person

  • Adriana Solorio

So the only one I didn’t read an answer to is how the tuna should be made?? Plain??? Or can I add some veggies and little mayo??
