Kaiser Diet Plan – How To Lose 10 Pounds In 3 Day?

Today I want to show a pretty entertaining diet plan that I found last night. Last night, as my girlfriend was digging around her kitchen cabinets searching for a baking recipe, she came across a seemingly very old suggestion for a diet. She gave it to me to check out and share with the rest of you. The first thing I noticed was that the paper was pretty torn up and it looks like it could have been written on a typewriter. The other thing that caught my eye was that it was recommended from Kaiser Permanente, a very large managed care organization. So this must be all true, right?This plan is titled: Lose 10 Pounds in 3 Days. I have always been told to steer clear from anything that seems like a quick and easy method to lose weight, it just doesn’t seem right. Since this got me interested, I checked out all of the food items that were included in this diet. Check out the entire thing below:

Day 1

  • Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 2 tbs. peanut butter, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna, 1 slice toast, a coffee/tea
  • Dinner: 3 ozs. meat, 1 cup green beans, 1 cup beets, 1 small apple, 1 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 2

  • Breakfast: 1/2 banana, 1 egg, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese, 5 saltine crackers
  • Dinner: 2 hot dogs, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 3

  • Breakfast: 1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice toast
  • Lunch: 1 oz. cheddar cheese, 5 saltine crackers, 1 small apple
  • Dinner: 1 cup tuna, 1 cup beets, 1 cup cauliflower, 1/2 cantaloupe, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Kaiser says that with this diet, you lose 10 pounds so quickly because this food pattern will cause a chemical breakdown in your system. They say it’s proven to work, so there shouldn’t be any substitutions from anything on the diet plan. They say you can do this plan four times in one month, but not consecutively. Either way, this plan, along with many others out there, just sound really fishy. It just doesn’t seem naturally healthy to lose up to 40 pounds in one month!I’m going to do a little more research on the topic of “chemical breakdowns” with food in the digestive system. I have never heard of this concept before, but maybe it really is a magical combination that can effectively allow us to lose weight in a quick and healthy manner.     I am starting this diet today, along with a coworker, she added cream and sugar to her coffee Im having mine w/o Im curious to see how this works.. all though It could use some clarification, I dont think the hotdog should have a bun.. anyway I will give an update on my status in 3 days

    This diet looks like an extreme calorie cutting diet.
    I did the math and for the first day you’d only be consuming about 800 calories.
    That’s very low considering the average woman burns about 1800 in one day.
    That leaves you with a 1000 calorie deficit for the first day alone.
    I don’t doubt that you’d lose 10 pounds right away from doing this however they won’t be lasting results because as soon as you go back to eating a like a normal person again you’ll gain it right back.

    I gave this diet to my drama teacher back in high school. He was a very large man and had over heard me talking about this diet. He told me he didn’t believe that it would work. I challenged him, he took the challenge. Everyweek for 10 weeks he did this diet. He lost his hundred pounds , and became very acctive and kept it off. He said he never new a challenge to prove a 15 year old girl wrong would change his life. :)

    I have done this diet before. It does work well IF one eats wisley on the 4 days off. I do have a question to which I wonder if anyone has an answer. On my copy of the diet, the instructions read “Do not substitute salt and pepper.” That sentance can be misconstrued and I am honestly not sure how to take it. Does it mean that one can not USE any salt and pepper at all on this diet OR does it mean that we CAN use salt and peper but we can NOT use any of those salt substitutes, such as Ms. Salt? If you know the answer to this inquiry please add a reply to this site.

    I started this diet yesturday, Im using it as a tool to jump start my slower weight loss, but anyhow today is my second day and as of this morning I had lost 3 lbs…(yes I know its water but hey its still 3 lbs lol)
    I am staying active along with the diet so thats helping me not focus on the food…if Im busy Im not too hungry, the time between lunch and dinner was the hardest….I think what has helped me the most is I dont eat all of the food at one sitting…example, yesturday breakfast cup of tea, then an hour or so later I had the toast with peanut butter, and then later I had the grapefruit..I did the same for lunch and dinner….only changes i made was i steamed a piece of fish with my veggies for dinner and I ate the half the apple for an afternoon snack…and Im drinking crystal light in place fo water…i can drink it all day long but i cant do that with water…had a bit of a headache at first but it was mild and once i had dinner it went away….

    Last day of the 3 day diet…I weighed yesturday morning and I had lost 3 lbs…I have followed the diet exactly only modifications has been to stretch the food out, meaning not eating everything at one time….I weighed in this morning, and I had gained 1 lb…I was also very tired yesturday, probably due to my body being used to lots of carbs and there are very very few on this diet which is ok thats they way it was designed….My only real struggles with this diet is between lunch and dinner…there just isnt very many calroies at lunch time….so I will post tomorrow my final weight loss

    First day of the 3 day diet and so far so good. I am following the diet to the letter….no cream or sugar in my coffee, eating everything at the time the diet instructs. I am drinking alot of water so I don’t feel hungry yet. I am also looking at this as a weekly fast for spiritual clarity. I think that helps with the mental aspect of not eating as much food as I normally do. My oldest daughter is getting married in September and I am very committed to getting my weight down. I have 83lbs to lose, but even if I can lose 20lbs per month, I would be satisfied. Will keep you updated on my progress.

    Weighed in this morning and lost 4 pounds!!! Now I am starting day two feeling pretty good. My pants went on a little easier this morning….yeah!!!

    I just finished my 3 days, weigh in for this morning…I lost 4 lbs…I followed it exactly…did not cheat, did not eat any food that was not specifiacally on the list….Even though I was hoping for a greater loss, the 4 lbs I did lose has given me insperation to continue monitoring my calorie intake…for the last 3 days I have eates less then 1000 calories a day …Im going to increase my calorie intake to 1200 while staying active…So good luck everyne who tries this diet!!!

Then I mixed it up for the next 2 weeks and wasn’t as strict I lost a total of 27 lbs in 5 weeks. I got pregnant and just stopped but I ate a lot more healthier than before I just had my baby 2 weeks ago and have lost all baby weight ant an additiona 18 lbs from prepregnancy. Totaling 45lbs from when I initially started the diet. I was very heavy and still want to lose more weight so I’m starting it again today.

    The diet was designed for over weight people preparing for a triple bipass surgery and had to lose weight fast. It works if you’re strict with it and coffee and sugr are to be plain, you can use salt and pepper and steak sauce. I steamed all fresh veggies never cannned or bottled. The last day of the diet you cramp very badly and your bowel movement is loose and red! I freaked out cause I thought I was bleeding but its actually the red from the beets.

    Morning of day 3 and I lost 1 more pound for a total of 5 so far!!! I have to admit that its getting more difficult and Im really hungry today, but losing weight isnt supposed to be easy and comfortable or we would all be skinny, right? I am much more motivated with this plan, however, because Im seeing immediate results. I’ll check in again tomorrow and see what my total is for the 3 days.

    So I am starting the diet today. I have gained 5 lbs since the last time I did it so I am @ 195lbs. I’m going to try and do it for a month 3 days on 4 days off…of course eating healthy on the days off as well. I hope the month on the diet kick off my weight loss again…GOOD LUCK to me and everyone who is on it…

    Day 1 – only problem is I’m allergic to all citrus fruits so I substituted the grapefruit to 1/2 a mango. I’ll be back to post my results!

    I did this diet and it works. So if you stay with this plan, you don’t substitutes any meal you are going to be really impress with the results. Crackers are regular and the ice cream too. It’s a little bit hard but, you’r going to be happy with the results. Don’t give up and take this challenge.

    Can we really eat a 1/2 of a cantaloupe??? that seems like a lot with the rest of dinner AND ice cream.. though im not complaining(starving). but just want to make sure it is half a cantaloupe and not 1/2 cup. thanks for any responses!! #day2 :D

    I want to start this diet because I am very over weight…I need to lose 65 lbs but if you can believe it I would be happy with 5 lbs in the first 3 days. Hope it works, I’m going to start it on Sunday. It sounds like it’s working for a lot of you, hope it works for me too!

    On day three, only hungry at certain times during the day, I will keep you posted. Day 3 6lbs so far, I will see what it is tomorrow. Im more courious to see what happens after my four days off(I will eat reasonably) then at the end of day 3.

    I am on day three of the diet. As of this morning I had alreay lost 4lbs. which is exciting. I experienced a little bit of a headache on day one and two but none so far today. I would have to say that lunch today was the toughest as it was only a slice of cheese and 5 saltines. It’s been 3 and a half hours since I had lunch and I’m feeling pretty good. I think in order to lose and keep 10 lbs off you must do this diet for three days per week for a full month. I weigh 166 as of this morning and hoping to get down to an even 150.

    I’ve done South Beach (no carbs/no sugars) for 2 weeks and lost 10 lbs so this diet is a breeze for me. Day 1 – was as expected. I’ve never eaten grapefruit before. It’s not something I would eat on a daily basis. Bleh! I’m not going to weigh myself until the diet has been completed so I don’t feel discouraged! Good luck everyone! It’s all a mind game!     I went on for three days and lost 5lbs. I was off for four days and gained 1lb back. It’s Monday and I’m starting it over agin. I’m hoping in one month of just doing this diet Mon-Wed I could lose 12 lbs. Its not terrible for me. I am one of the few people who really likes everything on the menu (even the beets!). I do notice however that the first day I had a bit of a headach. Also, my legs feel a little odd while I’m on the diet. I don’t know why, but they do fell almost hollow. I’m a runner so I’m really in tune with my body and it does concern me. Best of luck to all! If you get hungry drink black coffee or lots of water!!!!

    I started day one yesterday and I haven’t lost any pound yet, though I followed the diet plan and menu to a T. Any way, I’m on day two and hopefully tomorrow there would be better results. This diet is pretty easy and I’ve done scarsdale so I’m just swtiching it up a bit. Seeing your comments and threads here makes me want to continue. I’ll keep you posted.

    I tried this diet 2 weeks ago and it worked, I lost 11 lbs by the 3rd day, then ate normally the 4th thru the 7th day and lost an additional 4 lbs which made it a total of 15 lbs, I took a week off and am now starting my 3 day kaiser diet again today..

    I’ve found that stretching things out helps. For instance, breakfast, I don’t eat everything at once. Toast with peanut butter around 9:30 a.m. Grapefruit at 10:30 a.m. Also, for the Tuna I squeeze lemon on it and add some pepper. I also put mustard on the toast, it helps with the flavor. I know that these are “free” add-ons if you were to do another diet, Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I plan on adding some lemon, salt and pepper to my dinner and veggies.This is my first week and I’m planning on exercising on the 4 days “off” the diet so I don’t crash or completely wash out the calories consumed on the 3 days. Excerising on the 4 days off can help off-set any extra calories consumed.

    @KPickles has a good recommendation to eat some of your veggies as a snack between lunch and dinner.

    I have my birthday party coming in a few weeks. Been on a low calorie diet for the past 2 months. I walk for 45-60mins on saturday and sunday and do 200 seat ups on weekdays. I was only able to loose 7.5 pounds so far. Now my party is less than 2 weeks…I am deperate to lose 10 more pounds.

    I did this diet twice a few years ago with a friend, in two weeks I lost 25lbs and my friend had lost 18lbs so it works great, I have had two kids and add about 50lbs so hopefully I can start getting back on track. If u feel hungry and you think of food it makes it very hard, I found that if I was to hungry then I would take a nap. I’m going to start today!!!

    This diet actually works!

    I used this diet during my junior year of high school (right before prom!) It was hard to stick to the plan, but I did it and lost the 10lbs before prom!!..mind you, I was active back then ans was playing for my school’s softball team!

    I’ve been looking for my copy of this diet, and didn’t think to search online until now! I’m glad I did!!

    I am starting today, along with my boyfriend, we were not as active (colds, etc) thru the holidays Nov and Dec and gained a bunch of wieght. We want to get a jumpstart on 2012, continuing our workout routine-zumba! Get the weight we gained off and also to shrink our stomachs so when eating regularly back to good, rather than oversize, portions. Good luck to you all! I have used this 3 day diet in the past and it worked. We want to try it for 2 weeks then take a full week off and then back on it again for a week. I want to lose 75 lbs before our cruise in April,2012

    So happy to hear you’re doing the same thing I am, I also need to lose 60 to 70 lbs, but aright now I’m doing the Herbalife shakes for breakfast and lunch with a SmartOne in a bed of veggies or salad for dinner. I plan to do it for a week and alternate with the Kaiser 3 day diet and keep doing this Lord willing my commitment stays strong and I’m able to keep doing this so I can lose 10 lbs per month till I get to my goal. Lets’ keep posting our good and not so good days so we can help each other stay focus and on track. How does this sound to you?
