Stay Healthy The Right Way

By Joe Fier | November 3, 2007

I felt that ending the workweek with some more sound flu season tips would be quite interesting. Earlier in the week I wrote about staying healthy while spending time around sick people. Check it out here and compare some of them with this article I read today at CNN.com. While I was writing my previous post, I was pretty much recording the methods I took to keep healthy while I was around my sick girlfriend and others. Luckily, it worked for me, but I didn’t do a massive research project beforehand to know exactly what would be best for me.

This article offers a great lists of some key do’s and don’ts that you’ll want to know since flu season is right around the corner. There are many surprising ideas discussed that, contrary to popular belief, are normally the right thing to do to prevent or help remedy a cold. As they highlight some long-standing wives tales about staying healthy, this is a good read to see how one doctor thinks otherwise.

It’s all laid out like this:

The one that surprised me the most was the part that said not to sneeze into your hands. We have been taught since we were young that the polite way to sneeze is to cover your mouth with your hands. It does make perfect since to not sneeze into your hands, since they are our main tools to work and interact in society. I guess it’s now time to start over and teach my future kids to sneeze into their elbows!

Here is that link to the article, again, if you missed it from above.
