This Week’s Links to Check Out

It’s one of those days again when I want to share all the great posts I’ve been reading from my reader over the last week or so. It’s been a while since I’ve done a post like one of these and I forgot how fun they actually are. I love spreading the word about some of the great reads out there, hoping that everyone else would check them out, and continue to do so in the future. Without further ado, here are my top reads…

  • Diethack’s 8 Health Problems You May Encounter With Your Laptop and How To Solve Them shows great concern for those of us that use those handy computers. Since I use my laptop for everything, this definitely opened my eyes to some matters I haven’t thought about.
  • Continuing with Diethack’s site, Harry also writes a great article called Are You Having Eyesight Problems? Many of us, myself included, neglect to pay attention to our eyes. When they grow increasingly worse, we often tend to ignore them. This post gives some good insight on how to help them out.
  • Brip Blap has an amusing article called 67 Ways To Outlive 106 Billion People. There’s an awesome list that will give you some motivational tips in pretty much any aspect of your life that will help you better yourself. Print it out and put some of these thoughts to use in your daily activities.
  • Zen Habits brings to light the importance of meditation in our daily lives. He also lists a ton of great tips for starting out in his post Meditation for Beginners: 20 Practical Tips For Quieting The Mind. Unfortunately to say, I am one of those that have tried but never kept at it; This will definitely help me stay with the game.
  • Zen Habits is full of so many awesome posts, so I need to share this one. In his article, 10 Great Ways to Show You’re Grateful Today, he points out that giving simple appreciation can go a long way. He also gives us some great ideas to show thanks to others. Give them a shot!
  • Life Optimizer offers a very detailed how-to guide to reading classic books. I know this may seem weird to add on this link list, but I know I have always had problems reading some of the must-reads out there. Check out How To Read Classic Books Effectively and become a master!
  • Since Zen Habits is popular on my list, I found a great overview of his new e-book, Zen To Done, at Get More With Life. The article, Book Review: Zen To Done, gives sound criticism and great complements on the e-book. Check it out if you get the chance!
  • After receiving numerous comments today from fellow workers saying I look tired (which I am), the post at the Ririan Project sparked my interest. Read Top 10 Ways to Ruin Your Night and see how you’ve been cheating yourself out of good sleep.
  • The Ririan Project always provides very influential reads, so here’s another from them. How to Turn Everyday Chores Into a Muscle Busting Workout gives some great ideas for those of us digging for time to workout and still manage to complete the everyday ins and outs.

Top 7 Blog Action!

topbad11.gif

If you missed it, yesterday was Blog Action Day. It was a day where over 15,000 blogs came together to write a post in their genre about the environment. Check out my post and Matt’s at How I Will Be Rich if you haven’t already. There were so many great insights brought upon by a range of bloggers. It sure was a great feeling to see so many people join together to share their thoughts on a topic that is so popular today. Today, just as Matt has done, I want to spotlight ten seven of my favorite healthy related blogs that caught my eye during Blog Action Day. Check ‘em out…

Surprisingly it was very difficult to find some good posts about the environment and health.  I thought blogs like that would be all over the place, but I guess it just isn’t as popular as all the topics of recycling and reusing, which of course are very important as well.  I think this list of seven holds up to my normal weekly ten hot links.

Be sure to leave some feedback for all the writers out there!

Oh, it’s Wednesday, the day that we all focus on work… or something like that. Well, as you make it through the last half of the work week, I’ve come up with my weekly list of great posts for you to check out. Maybe you’ll find some helpful tips for making the day go easier, or maybe some quirky fact that you’ve never heard of. Whatever it may be, check out the awesome list of sites that I’ve frequented over the week and tell them, and me, what you think of them all. Here we go…

  • At the Ririan Project site there is a very helpful post that shows methods to keep your mind at tip-top shape. Read 22 Research-Proven Tips for Better Memory and learn of some new ideas you’ve never heard of.
  • I had to list another from the Ririan Project. Right along with all of their influential posts, All-Day Vitality: How to Fight Fatigue Morning, Noon, and Night points out methods to prevent that sluggish feeling throughout the day.
  • Here is a nifty little comparison of dieting tips that go hand-in-hand with getting yourself out of debt. They don’t seem in common, but check out Zen Habit’s post, Fiscal Fitness: Eliminate Debt with 10 Successful Diet Principles.
  • In the post, The Relaxifying Secret to Success, The Positivity Blog discusses tips and advantages of focusing on the process of difficult situations, rather than the possible obstacles that would hold you back. Great tips!
  • Over at Diethack, the post, Do You Need Supplements? squares up some questions that we might have about popping the next pill. If you have a routine of taking supplements, such as myself, check out this site and see what you might not have known.
  • That’s Fit wrote a short article about how bone density can be increased by drinking tea. Check out Drink Tea, Slow Down That Bone Loss over there and also check out my previous post about other tea benefits.
  • I first heard this on the news yesterday, but check out He’s Fit’s article, Bad Marriages Not Good for the Heart. Some new studies are pointed out here that show bad relationships can do a lot of harm to your heart.
  • There’s a lot of these do’s I don’t do, and don’ts I do do. If I just confused you, head over to Her Active Life and read the post, Strength Training Do’s and Don’ts.
  • At Live Life… Organics and Your Health, there is a very informative article about how magnesium not only gives the body many advantages, but it is necessary. Check out Why Do We Need Magnesium and see what it’s all about.

That’s it for the weekly list of great reads, but while you’re at it, check out Matt’s post at How I Will Be Rich, Enthusiasm is the Way to Success. He shows how you can get very excited about something in your life if you take the time to appreciate the topic and fully understand its ins and outs. Other than that, leave some comments on all of these awesome blogs, I’m sure they’d love to see what you think!

Wednesday and Full of Great Links

Here we go again with the weekly list of some great sites that Matt and I have found over the week that have caught our eyes.  There are so many great sites out there that offer advice and insight from so many levels, it’s always difficult to widdle the list down to just 10.  But none the less, the sites listed here are awesome and very worth checking out on your own, if you haven’t already.  Here we go:

  • Over at DietHack there is an article that brings up some simple ways to slim down on the calories without sacrificing too much.  15 Calorie-Cutting Food Hacks.
  • I’ve said it again, but it’s something that’s important in my life: sleep, or the lack of it.  Check out Would a Daily Power Nap Make You More Productive? over at HealthMad to see how napping can help straighten out your life.
  • This is a little off the health topic, but something we probably all deal with, the 9-5.  I know those numbers sound dreadful, but read How To Work 9 to 5 and Enjoy It at Dumb Little Man to, well, learn to enjoy that workday!
  • Do you think that yardwork is monotonous and pointless, think again.  At He’s Fit, they point out that these once daunting tasks can prove beneficial to your health.  It’s at in Yardwork Yields Muscle Gain.
  • I’ve written some of my insight on this topic, but you should check out How To Get an ‘A’ in College Nutrition, Part II at Her Active Life and learn some things you might be forgetting before throwing a few drinks back.
  • While you’re at Her Active Life, also read Tips for Time Management.  We all have our own techniques of how to complete tasks, but it’s always a great thing to ingest some more tips to allow you to make more of your time.
  • If you’re interested in working out and not having the space for all the bulky equipment, maybe you should check this new workout idea.  It’s over at He’s Fit in the article, Suspension Training.
  • There are some huge words of wisdom at Zen Habits in the article, Escaping the Cubicle and Getting Off the Corporate Treadmill.  They show that with enough positive energy within you, the limits in your life seem nonexistent.
  • The post, Just Do It! over at The Positivity Blog is a good read because it reminds you to overthink your life.  I’m in no means an indecisive person, but I know those who are, so this could be a little help.  ;)
  • The last, but best article I read this week (which Matt found) is called All-Day Vitality: How to Fight Fatigue Morning, Noon, and Night from Ririan Project.  This post is packed with ideas to stay attentive and sharp throughout the day with detailed information along with it.

That’s my snazzy list of ten great reads for the week.  Like always, check out other posts on these great sites and keep up with they have to say.  I am constantly amazed with the amount of knowledge that can be gained through others.  Have a good one!

The Thursday/Tuesday Top 10 List!

This last Tuesday I wanted to continue with the Top 10 Tuesday that Matt brought over from HowIWillBeRich.com, but instead got a little bogged down with the amount of work and school I had put on me.  Now I’ll make it up with the Top 10 being moved to Thursday for this week, woo hoo!  Here are the 10 health blog posts that caught my eye over this past week that I’d like to share with you all.  Check out all of the sites and enjoy!

  • Over at The Final Sprint I stumbled upon a really interesting podcast with Dean Karnazes.  He is an avid runner that has authored The Ultra-Marathon Man. His words of inspiration speak to everyone, not just the runners out there!
  • Her Active Life discusses the The Science of Sleeping Pills.  This article was interesting because it pointed many concerns with these pills.  Many of us will use these from time to time, so read this before popping another one.
  • There are some really profound food tips over at Diethack in the article, How To Prepare A Healthy Family Meal.  Since there are so many conflicting dietting tips out there, it’s very difficult to know which one to belive.  This article lays out the basics so you know where to start before jumping into that next crazy diet.
  • The folks at HealthMad are discussing the importances of spices in your diets in the article, Spice Your Day to a Healthier Life.  Check this one out and see how spices are just as, or even more important than all of those highly-expensive organic foods.
  • Live Life…Organics & Your Health shows you a snap shot of how benefitial having fish around can be.  Check out this quick read, Fishes Are Therapeutic, and see how these little guys can brighten up your day.  I bet all of us could use them from time to time!
  • I found a catchy little poem at The Diet Pulpit that easily sticks in your head.  See for yourself at Dieter’s Manifesto and see if these clever words can help you before your next snack craving.
  • There’s a great article at Ririan Project called 10 Big Lessions from Little Kids that is sure to take you back.  It points out the smarts that our youth has that we tend to overlook as we get older.  See what you’ve been missing for so many years…
  • I have always had one of my friends tell me that soccer is the best sport in the world.  Now, he can also tell me it’s a better workout than the running I love to do.  Check it all out at He’s Fit in the post, Soccer Is Better Exercise Than Jogging.
  • Spine-Health.com points out some great tips we forget during our hussle and bustle while traveling in their article, 29 Best Travel Tips for Your Aching Back.
  • I enjoy reading about different cultures, so I thought A Peek Into The Swahili Way of Life at Nurture Your Own was an awesome little picture.  It’s interesting to see the huge differences in diets in America and the rest of the world.  It almost seems like we try to eat like cultures such as this while shopping at natural food stores and searching for the most organic selections.

That’s the Top 10 from this week.  I hope you check them all out, they are some great reads!
